The Probate Court granted leave to presume the death in 1595 of John Willis Kirkaldv, a trader in the Pacific, from 3-885 till'lßo2, when he was shipwrecked on an unnamed and uninhabited island in the Solomon Group, living a Crusoelike life there for three years. He. was then rescued with a man named Vandriine. Both went to New Zealand. Later Kirkaldv wrote from Syditey saying that he was joining Vandrune in New Zealand for a' big trade scheme, in the Sol onions. Letters'subsequently sent to him were returned, and it is presumed he is now dead.
