INDUSTRIAL TURMOIL.
RAILWAYMEN'S STRIKE. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received July 20, 12.10 a.m. New York, July 19. The conductors, brakemen and switchmen of the Central Vermont Railroad, and the trainmen and conductors Ot the Grand Trunk, west of Detroit, struck last evening. All work is at a standstill, except that a few trains were allowed to proceed to their destinations. OBSTRUCTING THE POLICE. Received July 20, 12.55 a.m. j London, July 19. Strikers vainly attempted to obstruct the police in escorting a conveyance with provisions to Avonmouth. Two of the police horses were aftervards found l stabbed. The strikers and officials do not believe that the dockers are culpable. CONCILIATION REJECTED. London, Julv 19. The Shipping Federation has declined to agree to the formation of a conciliation board. A SETTLEMENT EFFECTED. ; New York, Julv 19. A settlement has been reached in regard to the Pennsylvania Railroad (eastward of Pittsburg) trouble.
