Lord Roberts was watching the shootings and congratulated the colonials. Lord Cheylesmore, president of the Rifle Association, announced that an effort would be made to send a team to Australia next year. • AUSTRALIAN SUCCESSES. Received July 18, 8.45 p.m. London, July 18. In the final of the King's prize, Halligan, with 330, finished sixth, winning a ,badge and £ls; Armstrong, with d2B, I £l2; Grant, with 320, £10; Boyd won £8 and Pilbean £5. In the St. George's Challenge Vase, Williams, of Victoria, came second, securing a silver cros9 and £25. Grant, Adams, Boyd, Best and Galliford won badges and money prizes, ranging from three to ten pounds. OKATO CLUB. On Saturday last the local club continued its competitions for the Swan I trophy. The day was fine, and some | food scoring was done at 200 yards, | { tes. Penwarden making the coveted | j possible. At 500 yards the marksmen | had to contend with shadows cast upon i j the targets by some neighboring trees, j j making the shooting a good deal a mat- j ter of guesswork. Notwithstanding this i drawback several 33's were registered. | ;In connection with the trophy a match, I was fired between the A and B team, | the latter winning by 11 points.
