TARATA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A large gathering of the friends of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron met at the Public Hall to say farewell to them, for Mr.' Cameron, the manager of the local dairy; factory, has received a well-earned pro-| motion to a larger (factory, and leaves Tarata at the end of the monta. | During the social Mr. Rice was asked to make a presentation to Mr. and Mrs. Cameron on behalf of tneir many Mends, and at the same time to express the sorrow of their neighbors at losing such popular people from the district, and at the same time their joy that the move was promotion. Also to convey to Mr. and Mrs. Cameron the ■hearty, good wishes of the people of Tarata ifor their success and happiness in their future career. Mr. Rice carried out his duty, and in the course of his speech remarked that Mrs. Cameron had time after time contributed the music for dances and parties in the Hall, never seeming to tire, and never asking or getting remuneration for the trouble she had taken to give pleasure to her friends and neighbors. Mr. Cameron, too, nad aided the social life of, the district with his great musical ability. So that so'cially this district was sustaining a great loss by the change. In the matter otf the factory, one had only to look at the newspaper reports to see that Tarata butter ranked high amongst the various classes competing for prizes in the important shows of the North Island. So that the Tarata Factory loses a good manager. ■The presentation of a pipe and tobacco pouch to Mr. Cameron and of a | silver-mounted hair-pin case to Mrs. 'Cameron, was then made with the good I wishes of the assemblage. Mr. Cameron thanked the meeting in a very excellent speech. He mentioned that anything he and Mrs. Cameron had done to help, they had looked upon as a pleasure and a duty. He had done his very best for the factory, and had turned out a good article. He did not know much about his new factory, but had read glowing accounts about the district in which it lay. He hoped he would get as much consideration «nd friendship in his new place as he had received in Tarata. He thanked the suppliers for their many kindnesses to him and his family, both in sickness and in health. He took this opportunity of saying a few words about his successor,' Mr. Coi-ney, who as a butter maker was second to none in the Dominion. He sincerely hoped Mr. Corney would re-j ceive the co-operation, friendliness and help here that he himself had always i received. He said the verv moc nwe.
