•SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Rev. D. C. Bates' weather summary and forecast is as follows: —The ■fcarometer has risen steadily in the ■North Island, but slowly and irregularly la the South. Strong southerly and Westerly winds have prevailed, with gales in Foveaux Straits and in other places at times. Showery weather has prevailed on the western coast of both islands, and in the southernmost districts, with heavy snowfalls on the Tanges in part of the South Island. Yresent indications are for cold a"ad changeable weather generally, with strong south-westerly winds. The baro--aneter will probably rise everywhere, and the nights prove very cold, with hard frosts inland and in the south.
