She left for Wellington about 11 a.m., taking 27 tons of cargo, including 600 boxes of butter. NECESSITY FOR ANOTHER TRAINING VESSEL. The Hon. Jas. Millar has said on more than one occasion that the Amokura is {rather small for a training vessel (says the Wellington Post). This is the general consensus of oipinion of New Zealand in the shipping trade, and it has struck rather more than one that the barque County of Inverness, lately at •Wellington, would be an ideal stationary depot for the purpose, using the Amokura as a sea-going, training vessel. The County of Inverness has splendid 'tween decks with portholes running fore and aft on each side of the vessel. She has an exceptionally clear deck, and having been built in the good old days her hull is.as good as ever. Seeing the small prices paid for sailing tonnage now, the Hon. J. 'A. Millar ought to be able to get her cheap. At 30s per ton (the price now ruling) she would be a splendid investment.
