TWELVE THOUSAND SIGNATURES,

Wellington, List Night. Twelve thousand persons in Wellington have signed the petition for the partial remission of the sentence passed on Joseph Powelka at Palmerston North. This is in addition to the petitions signed at Palmerston, Mnsterton, Feilding, Wanganui, and Pahiatua. A deputation will present the petition to the Minister of ■lustice next Friday.
