DISTRICT NEWS.
TOKO. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very successful euchre party and dance was held in the Toko Hall last Friday evening as a benefit to Mr. Burgham, who had his leg broken during the Stratford-Star football match in New Plymouth. The hall was crowded, and after the euchre match was over the hall was cleared for dancing. A lack of ladies was the principal drawback. The wool class finished up a week ago. Before dismissing, Mr. Henderson proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. McGregor, the instructor, for the trouble and unfailing good temper shown by him during the term. Mr. McGregor has now classes at Te Wera and Tututawa, so that sheep farmers are now recognising the advantages to be derived from an expert knowledge of wool-classing. I have no doubt that Toko will be asking for a wool class again next year. There is some talk of building a new hall in the district, and I believe a meeting has been called to talk the matter over. Mr. M. Urquhart, of Gordon road, holds a class in gymnastics in the Toko creamery, the class being well attended. We have had our own share of wet weather during the last week or two, but on the whole the weather has been mild and stock are looking well.
