HEAVY RAINS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Thursday. Continuous rain during the past few days is giving rise to serious apprehension of Hoods. The rivers are running very high. Settlers are removing stock to the high country. The rainfall registered for 48 hours totalled 4y 3 inches. A heavy sea is running in the bay and shipping is disorganised. Wairoa, Thursday. Three inches of rain fell in 25 hours, and the rivers are in heavy flood. The Napier-Wairoa coach reached Mohaka last night a day late and had to return to Mohaka this" morning owing to a slip on the road. Gisborne, Thursday. After exceptionally heavy rainfall the weather is now clearing. Yesterday the fall was 3.22 inches, making 7.57 inches for 48 hours.
