DISTRICT NEWS.

EGMONT VILLAGE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tilings have been quiet in our village lately, the e.hief item of interest being a ping-pong social held by the PingPong Revival Committee on Friday last. The affair was a handicap ping-pong tournament. The ladies' prizes were won by Mrs. R. G. Marsh and Miss A. Price, and the gentlemen's by Messrs. R. G. Marsh and D. Price. After the ping-pong, dancing was indulged in, Mr. Marsh's orchestra supplying the music. Mr. D. Price performed the duties of M.O. Supper was provided by the ladies' committee. It is quite on the boards that ping-pong may become, at least here, the rage it once was. The crusher is at present at work in the district, and a lnree quantity of new metal is being laid down, which should improve the slate oi the roads considerably.

Sharp frosts have bep-n experienced on several mornings latelv.

There is some talk of starting a boxing and single-stick school in the village. If a suitable instructor can be found, there is no doubt that the thing would take on well and cp use a nice diversion from the stanle local amusements —cards and daneine.

Influenza, which lias been very prevalent among the horses this season, is beinsr stamped out, much to the farmers' srratifieaticm.
