LAWLESSNESS AT OKATO.

On Sunday night the Puniho tollgato was considerably damaged by fire and tar. The gatekeeper was absent from 10 o'clock on Sunday night until 7 o'clock yesterday, and the destruction was done during that time. The tollgate keeper (Mr. George Taylor), hag re-, ported the tarring and partial destruction of the to]' boards by fire and the forcible remove' of the iron'gate just - erected in lieu of the wooden one recently chopped up and burned. The chains securing the gate to the post were cut and the gate taken away. The tollhouse door was forced open, and papers and a broom were taken.
