(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Niglii The St. Andrews' Lawn Tennis Clubhave decided to hold a dance a tt the Town Hall on August 4. The street scraper was at work in Broadway this afternoon, ana ■«, aumber of the councillors were to be observed watching the proceedings. To say that the scraper is an unqualified success would be going too far, buu as a certain proportion of the mud has been got rid of, one has to be thankful , for small mercies. I The Borough staff have been at work on Broadway South, and there is a. very divided opinion as to whether their operations have been a success or otherwise. It is possible that tins matter will form the theme of discussion at l Monday night's meeting of the Borough I Council. °

One resident lost a side of bacon recently, another a number of fowls, and yesterday the proprietor of a boarding-house who had just got in a case of a dozen hams, was surprised, on going home, to find that eleven had vanished. The police have the matter in hand.
