A QUESTION OF LIABILITY.
.The question of liability in the case of a young ladv admitted to the New Plymouth annexe for consumptive patients formed the subject of a discussion at the Stratford Hospital Board meeting on Wednesday. A letter was read from Mr. 'Penn showing that there had been no application for the admission of the patient, and saying that he did not think an order would 'have been made. The lady belonged to the Taranaki district, , ~ , The chairman, after an explanation by Mr. C. M. Lepper, secretary to the Taranaki Board, explained that under an agreement entered into by the Stratford, Hawera and Taranaki Boards, who were jointly interested in the upkeep of the annexe, it had been decided that no patient should be admitted without an order from the Board in whose district the patient lived. This patient had been admitted without an order. She was not vet 21, and although she may'have been in Stratford for three years, Jier domicile would be her parents' home. Jitter discussiom it was decided i% «- form the Taranaki Board that the Stratford Board disclaims any liability in the case. A motion that the Board's solicitor be consulted was lost.
