CONSTABLE SHOT FOR BURGLAR,

Sydney, July 7. An official of the Bank of Australasia last night discovered a man attempting to enter a side window of the bank! He called for help, and a neighbour rushed up. Constable Dowling also appeared, and the neighbour, mistaking him for the robber, fired a revolver. The bullet struck Dowling over die breast, but a pocket-book saved him from serious injury. The burglar escaped.
