FIRE ABOARD A STEAMER.
A RACE FOR SHORE. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received July 8, 0.5 a.m. New York, July 7. There were hundreds of passengers aboard the Grand Republic when a terrific fire broke out amidships. The steamer raced for the pier at Rockaway beach, arriving safely. The Grand Republic is a sister ship to the General Slocum, burned in 1904.
