The Rosamond left Wellington yesterday afternoon for Nelson, New Plymouth and Onehunga, Picton ibeing omitted this trip. She will arrive here to-morrow with about 140 tons of general cargo and 7000 ft of timber. THE PARITUTU.
Wet weather in Wellington has delayed the fitting up of the dredge Paritutu, but she will be ready to sail for New Plymouth towards the end of the week. SELF-DISCHARGING COLLIERS. The Belambi Coal Company have decided to place an order for a collier to replace the Currajong, and with this object the general manager of the company, Mr. F. G. Waley, is now in England. Before placing the order, however,. Mr. Waley will make a personal investigation into the latest English and German inventions for the mechanical discharging of coal from colliers, and its delivery into the receiving steamers. Having decided on the respective merits of the systems investigated, Mr. Waley will probably adopt one of them for the new steamer to be ordered for'his company.
The Rosamond had a very boisterous passage over the Manukau bar on Friday. She met the Kini aground in Manukau harbor, andstood by, the Kini till she got off. The Rosamond took the bar with the Rarawa, and was severely shaken up. After passing Cape Egmont on Saturday the Rosamond had a heavy head sea to contend with. She headed ■for Stephen Island, but subsequently turned in .towards Nelson and -went through the French Pass on Sunday afternoon. The Rosamond anchored undeT Long Island until Monday morning, and then went on to Wellington. OVERSEA VESSELS. FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. Viganella, left Liverpool March 12, due about end of June'.
