SUMMARY AND FORECAST.

Following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' weather summary and forecast:—The ■barometer 'has fallen very low in the far north, and also on the West Coast of the South Island. Easterly winds, strong to a gale, have prevailed, and cloudy and hazy weather overspread the country with rain in .many parts, and especially in the far north. Present indications are for stormy weather generally, and high easterly winds, changing hy south-east to southerly, ■with heavy rain in most parts of the country. Snow is probable on the higher levels in the south. The barometer will probably fall further for a short time.
