William Pigot, president of the Stewart Land Company,, declares that the new find is an excellent strike, but it is a mistake to call it a ledge of free milling gold. Other, reports show that the entire country was staked out before the majority of the prospectors arrived.

The Times' Toronto correspondent report? that it is difficult to r/et accurate information regarding the Stewart find. The glowing reports snoiild, lie states, be received with caution. Every Alaskan liner is crowded. It is estimated that fifteen thousand went to Bitter Creek during June. The excitement resembles that at the beginning of the Klondyke rush. ' On.hearing of the discovery at Stewart, half the population left Prinee Ru•"rt, and travelled to Stewart, en route suffering frreat hardship and liffioiilty, owing to inadequate food and shelter.
