South Africa, under Association rules, the former team won by 3 to nil. AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES TOUR. A MATCH AT WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met tlii» evening to consider matters . relative to , the visit, of the American Universities' - ' • team to the Dominion. The New Zealand Universities' Football Committee wrote, asking the Union to reconsider its decision not to grant a match to the combined university colleges of the Dominion; such a match, if sanctioned, could be played in Weilinjgton. I An intimation was received from the Wanganui and Manawatu Unions as to the terms upon which grounds could be obtained at Wanganui, Palmerston and Feilding, for the match against the visitors (the programme of tour had previously been decided upon with the exception of one match). , Mr. Crombie moved that lie fllth match be against a combined Universities' team at Wellington. Mr. Kelly favored this course, provided the visitors could not be furnished with a match at Rotorua. All previous visiting teams had been sent there. The chairman said the great objection to the match against the University team was the expense. Mr. Warburton considered Wanganui or Palmerston should have the fifth match. The chairman said there were two things to be considered, the financial aspect and the convenience of the visitors. They must not impose any hardship on the Americans, if it was possible to avoid it. Having regard to the results of the matches in Australia, the financial side had to be considered; otherwise the tour might result in a serious loss to the New Zealand Union. It was pointed out that the playing of the match against the combined universities' team would give an additional match to Wellington, whereas the - smaller unions should be given a chance against the visitors. The proposal to play the universities' match was defeated. It was decided to nlav the fifth match at Wanganui, nroyided a half-holiday can be obtained ort the day on whidh it is proposed to play the match.
