RIFLE SHOOTING

The members of the Taranaki Rifles fired two .matches on Thursday afternoon on the local range, at 200, 500, and 600 yards. The first match, a scratch competition, was the first of a series (bf (three (competitions for tihe compapy championship, and the second was a sealed handicap for the wedding ring, There was very little wind, and the light, though duil, was fairly regular. Lieut. Marrett was top scorer in the championship shoot, with a score of 99 points. Private Blanchett, with a handicap of two points, tied with Lieut. Marrett for fee wedding Ting. In the fire-off, five shots at 600 yds, each, competitor made three. bulls and two inners. It was therefore to fire on i more shot each.
