TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Association was held last evening. The delegates present being Messrs. Priest (Inglewood), Barnard (Eltham), and E. Avery (New Plymouth). A Tetter was read from the Opunake Union re affiliation and Messrs. Lothian and Mcllvride waited on the Association in support of the application. It was explained that at present, in and around Opunake, there wefce six playing teams* The teams .which had formed into a union, were disinclined to pay two affiliation fees and it was desired to have a separate association. The secretary explained that the New Zealand Council had recently decided not to affiliate any new associations, but should a number of teams wish to form themselves into a separate body they could <lo so Tiy becoming a sub-union of the asoeiation* governing the district. It was eventually decided to affiliate the Opunake Union subject to ratification by a fuller meeting of delegates; in the meantime the secretary to obtain full particulars from the Auckland Association and the New Zealand Council re the rules relative to minor bodies. An endeavour is to be made to re-ar-range the coming matches between Inglewood B and New Plymouth and Inglewood A and Carrington Road, to avoid the two Inglewood teams travelling on the same day. All other business bad to be postponed till next month, when it is hoped there will be a fuller meeting.
