STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) v. Stratford, Last Night. Mr. T. Lawless, formerly proprietor of the Stratford Hotel, has purchased the lease of the Rutland Hotel in Wanganui. He takes possession on Monday. During August a district convention of the W.C.T.U. will be held. Amongst the visitors it is expected that Mr. T. E. Taylor, M.P., wili be present. As showing the practical interest farmers and others are taking in the A. and P. Association, it may be mentioned that the "each and several" guarantees are 'being rapidly' taken up. This au'gurs well for the success of the Association, for it ia usually noticeable that when a man's money is at stake he is a keen worker. * Mr. J. A. Jones, who for- the past thirty years' has been a resident of Stratford, passed away on Saturday night. Deceased, who was fifty-nine years of age, acted, since their inception, as curator of the Stratford fish ponds. A widow and two children are left to mourn their loss. Early this morning Mrs. Mary Fabich passed away. 'Deceased was seventy-one years of age.
