TRADE WITH RUSSIA
PROPOSAL FOR DIRECT SHIPMENTS 'Auckland, June 25. The establishment of a direct trading connection between New Zealand and Russia is the object aimed at .by Mr. M. Ivoslovsky, of Russia, who is at present residing in Auckland. He represents the Russian Commercial and Industrial Society of Exports and Imports of Mos.cow, and he is endeavoring to make the aims of the society known to the leading commercial men of New Zealand. In ppealdng to a Herald representative, Mr. Ivoslovskv stated that at present what trade existed between Russia and New Zealand was carried oil through very round-about channels, and lie thought it would be of mutual advantage if direct shipments could be arranged for. Russia, he pointed out, provides a ready market for our tallow, skins, kauri' gum, rabbitslqns, hemp, and other products; whilst from Russia we receive various articles, such as oils, salt, fancy leathers, grass seeds, and other largely-used commodities. Russia should also, he thought, with better meitna of transport, provide an outlet for New Zealand mutton and fruit, iparticularly ajgries.
