While sliding on frosty ground in Longbeach schoolgroml yesterday a boy named Ernest Co'bdc.: fell and broke his left arm just above ..he wrist. A DRIVER'S FOOT CRUSHED. Ashburton, Saturday. The assistant driver of the Methven branch train met with a nasty accident at Rakaia to-day, in which a locomotive badly crushed his foot. DEATH FROM BURNS. Dunedin, Saturday. Isabella Hughes, twelve years of age, a pupil at the Waitahuna school, died at one o'clock this morning as a result of burns accidentally received from a fire in the school fireplace on Thursday. FOUND DROWNED AT HAWERA. An old identity of Hawera in the person of Timothy Moriarty, aged 70 years, was found dead in his cottage near the Hawera racecourse at 9.30 o'clock on Saturday morning by Mr.. A. Morse, caretaker of the racecourse. Death is supposed to have been due to heart disease. Deceased, who was a widower, was a native of County Limerick, Ireland, and lived alone.—Star.
