(By "Cleek") The final for the Ngamotu trophy was played on Thursday afternoon, when the eight players who qualified took part. The match ended in a tie between L. Hansen and T. R. Southa.ll, who will play off on July 2. Their scores were:—L. Hansen, 88—5—83; T. R. Soutlia'l, 92—9—83. This trophy was-presented to the Ngamotu Club by Dr. Walker in 1900, and has been won by the following players: —IL C. Wright 1900, ,J. W. Johnson 1901, Dr. Walker 1902, G. H. Morgan 1903, G. E. Mannering 1903, R. G. Scott 1905, F. S. Johns 1900, J. S. S. Medley 1907, R. G. Scott 1908, F. S. Johns 1909.
A medal handicap for the ' Rev. F. G. Evans' prize was also played on Thursday. Twenty-four players took part, L. Hansen and T. Soutliall being the top scorers. ,
There are 48 entries for the mixed foursomes match at Ngamotu to-day. The committee hope that as many as can do so will make an early start. Marked cards may be obtained from any member of the Match Committee. Next Saturday, July 2, a medal handicap for a prize presented by Mr. Taylor (of P. Haymaa and. Co.) will take place. The teams match, set for July 2, is cancelled.
Mr. Hood, the Auckland professional, has presented a club to the Ngamotu Club for the best aggregate of two ■medal rounds. The first round will be played on July 2, and the other on July 18.'
On July 9 a mixed foursomes for prizes presented by the President will be played. The Carrington Road Club's pavilion is nearing completion. The work would have been finished early in the week but for the difficulty of getting supplies of timlber. The place is quite commodious and convenient and will supply a much felt want. A mixed foursomes match took place at the Carrington Road links on Thursday, a (rood number participating. No startling scores were registered. The distances of the various holes on the Carrington Road links have, been ascertained. Thev are : Poiuls, 231 yards; Junction, 251 yard-. Tit-Bits 236 yards; Giillv. 193 vards; Mountain, 294 yards; Pines! 205 yards; Cantlop, 212 yards; Kopje. 361 yards, Home, 165 yards Total, 2208 yards. ' The match, Carrington Road v. Waitara, will probably take place next Thursday. ~ Plaving oil the local liriks recently (writes the golf contributor to the Otaki Mail). Mrs. Bevan, the local and also New Zealand lady champion, did a. remarkable round of 85. Considering that tl.n «„ar of the "Teen" is 85-tl»s is calculated on the score that the ladv champion of the world would iput up if playing at her very best —Mrs. Bevan $ performance is a. truly remarkable one, and o-oes to show that Otaki possesses a "rolfer who is little short of a marvel. Mrs. Winterburn's score over the same ho'es recently, when she won the coronation medal, was 94. but that Uadv had a handicap of 17, which won her the > trophy.
