:pWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT,

At the Haymarket on-Saturday but fewi pigs were penned though fair prices were realised. Weaners made 5s 6d to 7s, small stores 8s 6d to 12s. A pony brought £5 2s (id. A quantity of timber and iron from the late winter show sold at very satisfactory prices. On Monday, 20th. inst., I held a clearing sale on account of Mr. B. Honeyfield, Barrett road, when there was a 'big attendance of buyers. The cows were a nice lot, in good condition, and mostly Jersey strain. Bidding was keen throughout, and everything was sold. Early calvers made £7 5s to £ll, later do. £5 10s to £6 15s, very late and empty do. £3 to £4 las, Jersey springing heifers £ll, ordinary springing heifers £5 to £6 os, yearling heifers (good quality) £3 Is, fat cows £5 1.5s to £6 12s, fat heifers £4 10s to £5 15s, pedigree Jersey bull 29 guineas, 2% to 3-year steers £4 Bs, 4 and 6-tooth fat wethers 19s, baeoners £2 to £2 Is, p.b. Angora goats (mixed sexes) £2 ss; bay filly, 2-year £lsy, ih'fi'lif-draught gleldiig £lB, chestnut gelding £l6, chestnut mare, 8-year-old, £2l, bay filly, 3-year-old (unbroken) £24 os, bay gelding, 3 year-old, £l4, bay filly, 2-year-old £ls ■ 10s. Sundries and implements sold at usual rates. At the same sale I sold Mr. A. H. Gilbert's dairy. The cows were not in such good condition as the previous lot and were rather late in coming in. Prices ranged from £4 10s to £6 ss. At Rahotu oil Tuesday there was a good yarding, with a large attendance of buyers. Competition for all classes was keen, especially for young cattle, and excellent prices ruled throughout, everything being sold, with the exception of one line of in-calf heifers. Mixed weaners made 25s'to 355, weaner heifers 395, do. extra quality £2 7s, weaner steers £2 Is Od, empty heifers £3 17s, empty heifers (forward condition) £3 19s to £4 3s, store cows £2 5s to £2 14s, forward cows £3 14s to £4 9s, fat cows £4 15s to £5 18s, 3-year fat bullocks £6 14s, springing heifers (small) £5 5s to £5 7s 6d, bulls £2 10s to £5 17s.

On the same afternoon I sold about 20,000 feet of mixed timber on account of the Opunake Sawmilling Company, for which very satisfactory prices were realised. At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there was a fair yarding. Bidding for all classes was ibrisk. Empty heifers made £3 os to £3 12s <sd, mixed weaners JS2s 6d, 18-months steers £2 13s 6d to £3, in-calf heifers £4 7s 6d to £5, springing heifers £5 os to £5 14s, store cows £2 14s to £3 13s 6d, forward cows £4, fat cows £4 15s to £5 15s, springing cows £5 15s, do. Jersey strain £7 7s, bulls £•2 to £3 10s, 4-tootli ewes in lamb 20s, f.m. ewes 6s 6d, goats 19s to £2.

MATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT.

Matthews and Bennett report a fairly small sale at their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, but there was a good attendance, and bidding was keen up to the following prices:—Springing heifers £4 15s to £6 3®, empty do. £3 »6s, stores £3 10s to £3 12s, spring calvers £3 10s to £4 12s 6d, springing cows £5 2s Gd to £o 7s 6d, heifers r.w.b. £3 7s, steers £3 19s.

OUTSIDE MARKETS.

WAIPUKURAU,

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly sale at Waipukurau, when they offered a fair yarding of cattle and 2700 sheep, to a good attendance of buyers. Cattle: Fat cows £4 12s to £5 9s, fat heifers £5 12s, cows in calf £4 13s to £6 Is; sheep, mixed sex lambs 9s Id to 9s 9d, 2-tooth ewes in lamb 10s 6d, s.m. e\ves in lamb 9s 6d to 10s 9(1, fat ewes lis Id to lis 3d.

JOHNSONVILLE,

Messrs Abraham and Williams report on their JohnsonviHe sale as follows: We offered a heavy yarding of prime sheep and cattle, which met with good enquiry, and sold readily. We quote: Prime heavy bullocks £lO 2s 6d to £lO 7s 6d, medium weights £9 12s 6d to £'J 17s 6d, lighter £9 to £9 ss, light £8 12s fid, vealers 34s to 375, small 16s fid, store cows £3 7s 6d; prime heavy wethers 20s to 21s 2d, good wethers 19s, medium wethers 17s 6d, .prime- ewes 16s 9d to 17s 7d, good ewes 15s 4d to 10s, good lambs 12s 6d to 12s lid.

ALDINGTON.

At the weekly sa'le of live stock at Aldington the weather was fine and there was a good attendance of farmers, dealers and representatives of meat export firms. Store sheep—Good hoggets (mixed sexes) : made 10s 6d to lis 6d, medium 9s Gd to 10» 3d, half-bred Downs (wethers) 7s to 7s 3d, good ewe hoggets 12s 9d, half-bred Down (ewes) Bs, very forward'wethers 14s Gd, forward 13s 3d to 14s, medium 12s 3d to 13s, inferior culls and low-conditioned sorts 10s 6d. Twotooth half and three-quarter-bred ewes were passed at los 3d, 2 and 4-tbot'h sorts, in good condition, realised 14s, fair to medium 12s 4d, 2, 4 and S-tooth Chatham Island ewes 10s "2d, aged ewes, in good condition 10s 3d, aged culls 5s to 6s 6d.

Fat lambs—'Ordinary freezers 13s 3d to los 9d, tegs to 19s 6d, light and unfinished 10s 6d to 13s.

Fat sheep—Wethers 17s 0(1 to 235, extra to 255, others 13s to 17s, prime ewes 15s Oil to 18s 3d, medium 13s to las, aged and light 9s '2(l to 12s Cd, merino ewes 0s 9d to 8s Id. Fat cattle—Beef realised 18s to 245, extra to 28s 'per. 1001b, ordinary steers made £0 17s fid to £lO l'Os, extra to £l(i (is, heifers £8 2s (id to £9 10s, extra to £ 12, cows £.5 to £S 10s, extra to £ll 15s. \ There was ail average yarding of fat calves, and the prices ranged from 4s (M to 555. Gd to £7 ss, 3-year-old heifers £4 6s, dry cows £1 15s to £4. The entry of dairy cows was a medium one. There was fair demand for better class sorts. Prices ranged from £3 10s to £lO 2s Cd.

Pigs—Choppers made to £3 17s (id for exceptionally [large animals, large lmconers 50s to 565, smaller 40s to 48s (equal to 4d per lb). The demand for poriters showed an im-prov ment. Large sorts made 30s to 30s, mailer 25s to 29s (equal to 4'/od to ! per lb). There was a large entry of store pigs, principally small animals. For 'best descriptions prices ranged from 18s to 265, while medium sorts realised 10s to 13s Gd, and weaners made from 2s 9d to 6s.

BURNSIDE. At Burnside stock market 272 fat cattle were yarded', of good and fair quality. Prices we re, if anything, slightly easier than last week. Best bullocks to £l2, good £9 10s to £lO 10s, medium £7 10s to £8 10s, best heifers £8 10s, good f 10s to £B.

Fat sheep—3427 penned. The yarding included a number of prime wethers and •wes. Prices were about on a par with last week's, although at some stages they were easier. Best wether 17s to 18s 6d, extra to 229 6d, medium to good 15s 6d to 16s 6d, best ewes to 15s, extra to lSs, medium to good 10s to 13s. Fat lambs—2s6B penned, comprising chiefly medium quality sorts, with a few pens of extra good lambs. Prices were firmer than they were last week. Best 14s 6d to 17s, extra 17s 6d to 21s Cd, medium and lighter lis to 14s. Pigs—All classes, except baeoners, were considerably easier. There was a short supply of baeoners, and the few that were forward met with brisk sale. Suckers 4s to 7s, slips 8s to 13s, stores 15s to 235, [porkers 27s to 345, light baeoners 38s to 425, heavy baeoners 45s to 535.
