The keel of the Australian cruiser battleship has been laid in ulie yards of John Brown and Company, ("ij debank. Lady Raid drove the first rivft. Lady Reid expressed the wish that the ship would serve Australia and the Empire well and faithfully in time of peace and war. Driving a second rivet, Sir G. H. Reid wished the ship good luck. Amongst those present were Captain Collins, representative of the Commonwealth; Paine, Commander of the Bisley team, and a number of Australian naval lieutenants, and Professor Biles, nava! architect.
