Mr. Keir Hardie made a complaint about the suppression of a pamphlet by Mr.. Mackarness, making accusations against the Indian police. : Mr. Montague, Under-Secretary for India, justifying the action of the Indian Government, said there was no reason for not applying the same law to obnoxious matter transmitted from England as to that produced i- . udia.
THE STRIKE AT AVONMOUTH.
London, June 23.
In the House of Commons, Mr. Churchill, in reply to Sir F. Banbury and Mr. Bonnar Law, stated that the danger of riot in connection with the strike at Avonmoutli was so great, and the possibility of dealing therewith so dangerous, that it was temporarily necessary to prevent Houlder brothers importing free laborers to replace the Newport strikers.
Mr. Lyttelton remarked that the Opposition. did not impeach the Home Office lor the course taken, but desired to affirm that the temporary risk and *iot would not constitute an excuse for making paramount a change in the law.
PROGRAMME OF THE SESSION.

The Premier, in the House of Commons, announced that a Bill to alter the accession declaration by the Monarch would be taken on Tuesday, and the , Budget on Thursday. There would be an opportunity for a discussion on woman's suffrage during the session. THE PARTY CONFERENCE. A LABOR OPINION. Received June 24, 9.30 p.m. London, June 24. The writer of an article in the Labor Leader considers that Mr. Asquith's statements regarding the party conference are compatible with the "deal" between the two parties. The Laibor party is confronted with the possibility of "a betrayal, a selling of the mass, a conspiracy."
