■A PALMERiSTON SALE. \ Palmerston N., Wednesday. Dalgety and Co. report:—At a clearing sale at Palmerston North on Wednesday, 22nd inst., we held a record sale of (purebred and grade Jersey cattle on account of Mr. Robert E. Bannister. Grade Jersey weaner heifers £3 5s to £7, grade Jersey weaner bulls 3% to 5 guineas, grade springing heifers £8 to £lB, grade Jersey cows £.12 10s to £2O, purebred bulls 23 to 35 guineas, purebred yearling heifers 16 to 37 guineas, purebred cows 25 to 40 guirteas. L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT. Poultry.-JOn Saturday we bad a very ]good entry, young stun' being in good supply. There is a good demand for table birds. Prices were: as follows: Hens, ordinary Is od to Id, fat Is 9d to 2s 3d, pullets Is 8d to 2s lid, cockerels Is 4d to 3s, ducks Is lid to 2s 7d, roosters Is 4d to Is lOd. In the Mart we sold a large quantity of shrubs and pot plants at satisfactory prices. Fruit.—This has been in small supply. We quote: Bananas 9s to 10s 3:1, oranges 8s to 8s 6d, apples, dessert, bushels 7s to 10s, cookers, bushels 6s to Gs 9d. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. We had a fair entry only on Saturday owing to the rough weather. Still, prices were well maintained. We quote ruling prices:—Hens, old Is 3d to Is sd, good young do. Is 6d to 2s, cockerels, poor Is 2d:to Is sd, good forward Is, lOd to 2s 2d, p.b. Black Orpingtons 3s to 4s, geese 2s lOd to 3s Od. Pullets are still in good demand, good forward realising 3s to 4s, black Orpingtons, brown and white Leghorns 2s (id to 3s, backward pullets Is 9d to 2s; ducks Is lOd to 2s, good laying do. to 3s, p.b. poultry, seven weeks old, 3s 9d, turkey hens 4s to 4s 6d, gabblers, good, to 7s, breeding pen of white Leghorns £1 Is. Sundries sold at usual rates. Meat—The usual lot arrived well and found a ready sale. Prices as follows: Best ribs 3s 4d, seconds 2y 2 d to 3d, rounds 3d to 4d, roasts 2d to 2y 2 d,- corns F/zd to 2y z d, sirloin 3d to 4y g d; rump 3y 2 d; forequarters mutton 2%d to 3y 2 d, loins 3d to 3y 2 d, legs 4d to 4y B d. Rabbits sold readily at usual prices.
Fruit— There has not been much fresh fruit in for the week, except Tongan 1 bananas, which arrived in a very bad condition and the fruit is small. Apples, dessert 7s 6d to 8s 6d, seconds 6s 6d to 7s, cookers 5s <M, oranges, re-packs, 8s 6d, bananas 9s to 9s 6d, ripe do. 2y g d iper lb, lemons 4s 6d, peanuts 2%d per lb, walnuts 6%d iper lb, mandarins 9s 6d, pines lis 6d, ipassions 10s. Furniture.—On Friday we held a, clearing sale on account of Mr. McParJ,land, and on Wednesday one on account of Mrs. Carstens. At both prices were satisfactory.
