A CONSTABLE DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hokitika, Wednesday. Word has been received of the death by drowning of Constable Hancox, of Okarito, when crossing the Karangarua river, South. Westland, this morning. Deceased lost his wife a few weeks ago, and leaves four voun«? children. Hokitika. Last Night. The body of the late Constable Handcox, who was drowned to-day while attempting to ford the Karangarua river, which is about 120 miles distant from Hokitika, was recovered in the stream this afternoon. No particulars are available as to how the fatality occurred.
