AN AMERICAN HORROR.
DEAD HUSBA.ND IN A TRUNK. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Received June 22, 10.30 p.m. San Francisco. June 22. Lately a man named Johnson, his wife and child, and a' friend named Powers, alighted at an hatel at Portland, Oregon.. Powers on the 20th June left, after announcing that Johnson was going to Seattle. A few minutes afterwards a heavy trunk was brought down and forwarded to the station. The label 'bore an address unknown in the town. The porters therefore opened the trunk and discovered a body, which was shot through the temple. The clothing was marked "Johnson."
Yesterday Powers and Mrs. Johnson ■were arrested on a motoring tour. The former was wearing Johnson's watch, but .protested his innocence.
