A PATHETIC STORY.

A WOMAN'S SACRIFICE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received June 22, 10.30 p.m. London, June 22. A pathetic story of devotion was totd at an Enfield inquest on the body of Marie Leroy, a French, woman hitherto supposed to be a man named Harry Floyd. She co-operated with Bradlaugh, Holyoake, and other Freethinkers, and then suddenly disappeared. It has now transpired that in order to defend the reputation of a friend she assumed male attire in 1884, and assumed the paternity of her friend's child, continuing to protect the latter after the mother's death, and earning a living as a teacher of languages.
