NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
FIRST DAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston 'North, Last -Night. The National Dairy Show was opened by .the member for the district to-day in fine 'weather. There was a large attendance from all parts of the Dominion, and the show was acknowledged on all sides as the greatest of its kind every held in the Dominion. The factory Gutter and cheese classes were .particularly fine. Results:— Best three cases of full cream Now Zealand Cheddar-shaped cheese, colored —Rongok'okako Dairy Company 1, Taratahi and Belvedere Dairy Company 2, Lowgarth Dairy Company 3.
Best three cases of full cream New Zealand Cheddar-shoped cheese, white— Rongoko'kalko 1, Belvedere 2, Pahiatna 3. Best case of cheese— j Greytown Dairy Company 1, Featherston 2. Best two factory cheeses fully matured—Cardiff Dairy Company 1, Omimi 2, Belvedere 3. Makino Dairy Company, and not Okato, won the class for the best •box of export factory butter. The display of fruit was generally admired. Single aipples shown, inclusive of the Government exhibit, totalled five thousand. In the champion class Mr. David Fry, of Eiwalka, Nelson, won the first iprize, and Mr. John Rich, of Havelock North, was second.
The Agricultural Department's exhibit is an exceptionally fine' one, and covered all branches of the Department's wofk. It occupies a hall by itself, and is well arranged.
