BENEFIT ENTERTAINMENT. An item by members of the Liedertafel Society will'be included among the many attractions to 'be .presented at the benefit entertainment to Mr. Fred. Stevens on Tuesday, 28th instant. The committee is working hard, and is meeting with a liberal response, so much so that it is expected the programme will be one of tlie very best ever arranged locally, and the Theatre Royal will be filled to the doors on the night of the entertainment. Mr. Bert Boyle, agent for Mr. J. C. Williamson, has kindly aJlowed the comedietta "Mrs. Hilary Regrets" to be played without the usual royalty.
LIEDERTAFEL CONCERT. We give our readers a final reminder of the Liedertafel conceit, which takes place in the Theatre Royal to-night. As will be seen by advertisement, the programme is a splendid one, and quite hi keeping with the high standard set by the Society at their initial concert, in keeping with the high standard set by the society at their initial concert. Up to yesterday practically the whole of the Dress Circle and Orchestral Stalls had been booked, so as far as the financial part is concerned, success is already assured. As we have often stated in these pages, the public are not slow iagiving their support when the programme set before them is one of excellence. As regards the soloists for this evening, Miss Alice Rimmer is well known on the concert platform, and she has two fine solos, which should show off her fine soprano voice to advantage. 'Miss Norah B. Ford, who has a fine contralto voice, will be heard in "From Love to Light" and that everygreen "Goodbye," l>v Paolo Tosti. Mr. C. H. Anderson (the conductor of the Society) will sin'g that favorite bass song, "The WoW." The quartette, double quartettes and duet, together with the part songs and oneratic choruses, make up a programme that would do much for our town, which outsiders are so fond of pointing to as non-musical. We wish our LiedertaM the success that their energy and talent medit. Doors will be opened at 7.3 ft p.m., and the concert will commence at 8 p.m.
