TARANAKI HUNT.
On Thursday afternoon the Xorth Tar-| anaki Hunt held its postponed meet at Mr. F. Sampson's property, Sentry Hill. It was ideal weather for hunting, and the sixty members present, amongst whom there was a good sprinkling of tadies, had a most enjoyable time, with plenty of sport. The hounds worked splendidly, and were going all the after noon, there being very few waits. Owing, however, to the fact that there was a good deal of cover about, the runs were mostly choppy. A couple of good runs were obtained, and one~kill was registered. The jumping was fairly ;;ood. although it has been better. The keenness of the air probably affected the horses. Afternoon tea was partaken of at Mr. Sampson's homestead. Mr. A. H. Halcombe, master of the Hunt, thanked Mr. •and Mrs. Sampson for their generous hospitality (they have prepared afternoon tea for the Hunt on two Thursdays in succession), and also expressed his regret, that the previous Thursday had been so wet as to cause the meet to be postponed. Next Thursday the Hunt will meet at , Mr. W. Linn's property, Oakura.
