Mr. T. E. Tlanierton occupied the eliair. The subject for debate was "Ts compulsory military training desirable?" Mr. if. TT. Stratford opened in the affirmative., followed by Mr J. Carrie in the negative. Other speakers were: Affirmative, C. G. Bicrnacki. F. Spnrdle, W. H. Taylor, i Meveiiberg and Tv_ TT. Stiblis: negative. F. Schwieters. and C. Reed. The vote resulted in favor of the affirmative bv 8 to 5. On Thursday evening ;< hockey social was held in the Pai ,; =li Hall, and proved ft great success. Several members of the Fltham ladies' team were present, at the invitation of the local members, Messrs. Sutherland and Wilson (piano and cornet) supplied excellent music, and evcrv item oassed off smoothJ v under the directorship of Mr. M. W. Priest. M.f. About midnight, light refreshments were handed round. Mr. J. B. Fine intends delivering a Political address on Tuesday next in the! Pnrish Hall. A large attendance is anticipated.
