■ Owing to stepping on a loose stone and stumbling whilst being ridden along East road on Wednesday (says the Stratford Post) the well-known trotter, Elsie's Child, severely cut 'one iknee, his rider and owner, Mr. Harry Jones, of the County Stables, sustaining a broicen collarbone'as the result of the falil.
