YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH
EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. An jiiquest was held at the Courthouse this afternoon bouciiing the death of Minnie Gien, who was found drowned on the North Beach. Mr. Cooke, 8U acted as Coroner. The evidence of the' father, brother and Dr. Mcßrearty. was taken. From their evidence it appears that she was made to resign her position m a laundry owing to breakine a window. The deceased left home <ki May 24, and was never heard or until' found on June 10. If was alleged that the girl wuh often' on the wharf and aboard the Arahura. Very cruel rumors have been in circulation about her condition at the timß of her disappearance, but the doctor's evidence proved them to be absolutely false The girl was of a bright and cheerful disposition, and much respected'. Her untimely death has caused much mystery. The Coroner decided to adjourn the case sine die to enable the police time to collect further evidence. Great sympathy is felt for her parents, who, only two days before her body was recovered, had their eldest son drowned oil" the Notown dredge
