NiOßlft ISLAM> RAILWAY LEAGUE. rfy Telegraph—Press Association. (Napier, Last Night. The Hastings Chamber of Commerce, at a meeting to-night, gave further consideration to the promotion of the North Island Railway League, and resolved that a conference be held at PaLmerston North on Friday, the 24th inst., and that all Chambers of Commerce in the North Island be asked to send delegates. The movement is already being well supported.
DOMESTIC IMMIGRANTS. Wellington, Yesterday. j By the Arawa, which was berthed this morning, there arrived, in charge of Mrs. Lindsay, one of the matrons of the British Women's 'Emigration Association, and Emigration Agent for the New Zealand Government, twenty-eight domestic servants, who have situations ready 'for them in New Zealand. Seventeen leave immediately for Hawke's Bay. TREMBATH BEFORE THE COURT. Christchurch, Yesterday. Trembath. the prisoner who escaped from custody while being brought Irom Tiinara to Lyttolton on June 3, was brought before the Court to-day and remanded. THE BOWRON APPEAL CASE. Christflmrch, Yesterdav. The hearing of the appeal in the income tax case aaninst Bowron Bros, is likely to be further postponed. It was set down for hearing this month, but it is improbable that the Judge will be able, to take it before the third week in June.
