STIFLING COMPETITION.

GREAT MOTOR COMBINE. London, April 15. A gigantic motor combine, which has for its avowed object the stifling of competition in prices and the abolition of all discounts on motor cars and motor car accessories of every description, is now being organised under the title oi the Motor Trades Association. The capital of the firms who have already joined the combine runs into several million pounds, and the scheme affects motor and allied interests having an aggregate capital of no less than £15,01)0,000. Should it be curried to a successful conclusion, in time the motor trade will be welded so firmly that open competition in prices will be' impossible, and the public will be compelled to pay the full list prices for all motoring 'articles. Some of the firms who have either joined already or are expected to do so are:— Humber, Limited, with an Authorised capital of C(io0,(HI0; Daimler Motor Co., Ltd., £500.000; S. F. Ed"e, Ltd., £22U,lfiO; De Dion-Bouton. Ltd.. £105,000; Palmer Tyre Co., Ltd.. £IOO,000—in 'addition to Messrs Brown Bros., the Minerva Motor Co.. Messrs Jarrott and Letts. Messrs Mulliiier and Co.. Ltd., the Siniiiis Manufacturing Co.. the Rover Motor Co., Messrs Vamlervell and Co., and Messrs Straker and Squire.
