THE WINTER SHOW
!V-:il';-- tin 1 fact that the commit-too h::w been favored with proper wintry weather for the show, 'there was a very good attendance -both during the day and evening. The takings yesterday were much better than at any other time during the show, thus proving that those who have already seen the show are giving it a publicity that is decidedly advantageous. If the weather 'keeps fine to-day there should be a large attendance, as it is confidently expected that every one of our usual Saturday country visitors will attend, and thus support their own show, and that in addition an extra large number will come into town for the express purpose of attending it. Those who can attend are asked to do so early during the evening, as the sale of gifts takes place at about 8 p.m. In order, however, that visitors shall sec the show in to-to to-morrow evening, the committee have decided that no ex> liibit, even when sold, is to he removed from its position until after 9 p.m. Several additional attractions were on yiew yesterday, and will be on view again to-day. Mr. Sand-ford, of the Technical School, has a lathe in going order, and is turning out tops, egg-cups, servi-ette-rings, and other articles, which are being presented to the youngsters as fast as they are turned out. Another item that is taking well is the free guessing for a 121b cheese at the Freiniferm cheese stall. There is a large stack of cheese, and to win the prize one has only to guess the nearest to the weight of the stack. Mr. Carter's tea stall did good business, and supplied a much-felt want.
Last night the Garrison Band, under Bandmaster Cummins, supplied the following programme of music:—March, "Sword and Lance"; fantasia, "Happy Days in' Dixie"; waltz, "Gay Paris"; march, "Colonel Bunker"; eccentric march, "Uncle Sammy." This evening the musical programme will be rendered by Perry's Orchestra.
