NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.

At the Haymarket on Saturday a fair number of ipigs were penned and sold at the following rates: —Slips made 3s Gd to 4s, weaners 4s (id to Ts, stores 8s 6d to 12s, do. good l'3s to 17s, porkers 21s to 20s Gd. A gelding brought £5. At Rahotu on Tuesday there was good competition for all classes, and nearly everything sold either at the hammer or privately. Oalves made 22s to 24s ftd, weaners 29s to 34s Od, heifers in calf £3 10s to £.4 12s 6d, store cows £1 18s to £2 13s (id, forward cows £4 10s, fat cows £6.

On Wednesday at Waiwakaiho yards ( the unreserved clearing sale of pedigree cattle on account of Mr. Charles Clarke attracted a very large attendance, buyers being present from the north of Auckland and as far south as Palmerston North. Bidding was very keen right through the sale, and very satisfactory prices were realised for, all classes. Pedigree cows made from 24s guineas to 70 guineas, 2-year heifers in calf 24 guineas to 59 guineas, yearling heifers I<s guineas to 4 guineas; 2-year bull, "Frisky Campanile,'' 70 guineas, yearling bulls 15 guineas to 26 guineas. I also sold on account of Mr. W. J. Freeth a 3-year pedigree heifer by "Yankee Sweet" for 61 guineas. At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there was a fair yarding and a good attendance. Calves to yearlings made 335, heifer do. Jersey strain £2 2s, store cows- £1 10s to £2 15s, forward do. £3 to £3 6s, springing heifers £5 to £0 12s 6d. A •line of well-bred Jersey heifers and cows was keenly competed for and sold at excellent prices, four heifers and calves making £ll each and cows £8 to £l6.

WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry.—On Saturday we were unable to accommodate the .poultry sent in for sale and temporary .pens had to be arranged. Pullets and good cockerels s.tilil keep up in price despite the slight drop in egas. We quote Saturday's sale prices:—Hens (old) Is 3d to Is scl, good young Is 8d to 2s Id, .pullets (young) Is 9d to 2s 3d. good forward 2s 6d to 3s 9d, laying pullets 4s to 4s 2d, ,p.b. white Leghorn cockerels 3s fid to os 3d, black Orpington cockerels 4s Gd to 6s 3d, table cockerels Is lid to 2s od, do. poor Is 2d, ducks (laying) 2s 8d to 3s Id, ordinary) Is lid.to'2s 3d, trios Orpingtons 9s Od, Leehorns 10s 6d <to 12s. Meat—The usual dots came forward and sold readily. Ribs 3d to 3y 2 d, roasts 2y 2 d to 3y 2 d, sirloin 4d to 4y 2 d, rounds 3d to 4d, corns 2d to 2y 2 d; forcquarters mutton 3y 2 d to 4d, loins 3d to,4d, legs 4d to sd, shoulders 3y 2 d. A consignment of fine fat trapped rabbits was readily disposed of. Fruit.—The Island steamer Talune arrived during the week with a large cargo of oranges and ibananas. The fruit arrived in excellent condition and met a ready market. Apples (good dessert) 7s fid to 9s, seconds 6s to 7s, cookers 4s 9d to 6s, oranges (fe'Gd to 7s, bananas 10s to 10s Od, do. ripe 2y 2 d per lb.

MATTHEWS & BENNETTS REPORT.

Messrs Matthews and Bennett report a small yarding of cattle on Wednesday last at their Inglewood yards. Bidding, however, was brisk, especially for weaners, and practically the whole yarding was disposed of as follows:—Bulls £2 15s to £4. springing cows £6, store cows £2 3s to £2 17s, calves 27s to 33s fid, lambs 7s to 7s 2d, f.m. ewes 9s Sd.

OUTSIDE MARKETS.

DUKEDIN.

At Burnside stock market 161 head of fat cattle were yarded, the quality of which was fair.' Competition was very keen, and prices "were firmer. Best bullocks £lO to £ll, extra £l3, medium £8 15s to £9 10s, inferior £7 to £7 10s, best heifers £7 10s to £9 ss, medium £6 to £0 las, inferior £4 10s to £5 10& Fat sheep—2ss3 penned, the quality on the whole being fair. Prices were much the same as 'last week. Best wethers 19s to 225. medium 14s Od to 15s 6d, inferior 12s Gd' to 13s Gd, best ewes 12s Gd to 14s, extra 18s 3d, medium 9s to 10s 6d, inferior 6s Gd to 7s 6d.

Fat lambs—236B penned, the quality being up to the usual standard. Prices were, if anything, a shade firmer than last week, "but bidding was irregular. Best 15s to 16s, extra 17s 3d, medium 13s to 14s, inferior 10s to lis. Pigs—Prices for suckers and slips were easier, but those for porkers and baconexs were firmer. '

ADDKSGTON.

At Aldington forward wethers made 13s 6d to Us Bd, others lis 9<l to 12s 6d, good lambs 9s to 10s, small and medium do. 6s to Bs. Small two and four-tooth ewes were passed at lis and 103, and broken-mouthed ewes at '7s.

Fat lambs—Ordinary freezing weights 13s fid to 16s, tegs to 19s 3d, light and unfinished sorts from lis 4d to 13s.

Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers 24s 6d, prime 17s to 20s 6d, medium 14s 6d to 16s 6d, others 13s 6d to 14s, prime ewes 16s to 18s Bd, medium 13s 6d to 15s 6d, others 10s 3d to 13s, merino ewes 9s 9d to 15s 6d. Fat cattle—The average lines of steer beef fetched 18s to 235, extra to 25s tier 1001b. Steers brought £0 10s to £lO, extra to £l3 10s, heifers £4 10s to £B, cows £5 5s to £B, extra £9. Veal ers—Prices ranged from 4s 6d to £2 10s. Store cattle—Fifteen to 18-months sorts made £1 18s, two-year-old heifers £2 15s to £2 17s, three-year-old steers 52s Gd, drv cows £3 10s to £i, dairy cows £3 10s to £9 17s Gd. pigs—Choppers made to £3 15s, heavy baconers 4.5s to 525, lighter do. 38s to 42s (equal to 4d per lb); heavy porkers 35s to 375, smaller sorts 26s to 34s (equal to 4y.d per lb). There was a small yarding of store pigs, no ilarge animals being penned. Prices for these ranged from 9s to lGs. Weaners made from Gs to Bs.

MASTERTON. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale, held this week, as follows:—Sheep: Forward empty ewes 8s lOd to !)s 3d, .store ewes 5* Od'to Os (kl, ewes in lamb_los to 10s Id poorer sorts (is 6d to 7s Gd. Lambs.' of which there, was a large yardin", made from 7s to 8s 4d for best, others 4s 5d to ss, culls 2s 7d. Cattle: Cows, in milk, £7 7s fid, springers £5 I.os, 2% to 3-year steers £4 14s to £a 15s. 18-months steers £2 7s Gd to £3 as. Pigs: Slips 8s to Ms.

JOHXSOXVILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. report at their JohnsonviMe sale held this week as .follows:—We offered a good yardiiw of prime sheep and cattle, which sold readily at late rates. Prime heavy bullocks £lO to £lO 2s fid, lighter £0 ■los to £9 los. others £8 17s 6d to £9 ss! small vealers 15s to 22e 6d; .prime wethers 18s nd to 19s Id, prime ewes 10s 4d. good ewes 15s to 15s 4d, prime kmba I2i Cd tc 13s 3d.

WOODVILLE AND PA HI ATUA. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: —At Woodville, on Monday, June 6, we had only a small yarding of .sheep and cattle, but cleared the bulk of the entry at good values. At Pahiatna, on Tuesday, June 7, we submitted a fair yarding' to a good attendance of farmers. Competition was not so keen, but we made a good clearance at satisfactory prices. Quotations: At Woodville— Springing dairy cows to £5 10s, heifers in calf £3 Bs, forward empty cows £2 i)s to £4 Is, young ewes in lainn l!)s, woolly lambs !)s (id, shorn lambs 8s 4d.
