L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT. Poultry.—On Saturday we had a large entry of all classes. Prices were well maintained, and are as follows: —Hens, (fat) Is 3d to 2s 7d, do. (poor) Is 2d to' Is lOd, cockerels to 2s 4d, pullets to 2s 7d, roosters Is 8d to 3s 6d, ducks to 2s 9d. At the mart a large quantity of shrubs and plants sold well.

Fruit—Jjiirge consignments have arrived during the past week and found a good market. We quote: Apples, dessert 7s to 8s 6d, cookers 5s 6d to 6s 6d, oranges 6s 6d to 7s 6d, bananas (green) 9s to 10s, lemons (Sydney) Bs, pines 8s 6d, walnuts 7d per lb, pumpkins 4s Od per cwt., pie melons 4s 6d per cwt.. peanuts 2 1 / s d per lb, parsnips !)s per cwt.

At Mr. J. W. Thomson's sale we had a large attendance both days and prices were satisfactory.

LOXDOX MARKET CONDITIONS. Messrs J. B. MacEwan and Co. report as follows: Biitter—The total shipments from the opening of the dairy season, September Ist, is 10,271 tons, as compared with 13,042 for the same period last season, an increase of 24 per cent. Latest eables from the British markets advise that prices are now ranging from 104s to 106s. It is generally expected that values will not go lower. Cheese.—The total of shipments from the opening of the dairy season, September Ist, is 22,032 tons, as compared with 17,400 tons for the same period last season, an increase of 32 .per cent. Latest- caibles say that (best New Zealand brands are realising 55s to 50s, with an improving demand. Local conditions.—The current make of both butter and cheese is larger than is usual at this time of the .year. Exports of butter have practically ceased, and with normal stocks in cold storage current prices should be firmly maintained during the next two or three months.

NEW PLYMOUTH RETAIL PRICES.

Butchers' Meat. Beef: Sirloin 6d, prime ribs sd, rump steak Bd, beef from 3d to 4d, corned beef from 3d to 5a per lb. Mutton: Legs 6d, chops 6d, loin fid, shoulders sd, necks/ 4d per lb. Pork: Fresh, 6d per lb.. Veal, 3d to 5d per lb. Sausages, beef 4d, pork 6d. Lamb, 4s to 5s a quarter. Fowls, 5s per pair, ducks Cs per pair. These prices are for cash only; ] / 2 d per lb for booking over one week.

General Groceries.—Following are the cash prices charged by New Plymouth grocers:—Sugar, No. la 10s 3d, No .2 10s, Kerosene 9s Gd per case. Rolled oats and oatina, lOd per bag; oatmeal, 3s 3d per 251b bag; flour, roller, 1001b 13s. 501b 6si 9d, 251b 3s Bd. Cereals, etc. —Oats, white 2s 9d per bushels, duns 3s per bushel, crushed oats 3s; barley, 3s 6d; maize ss; wheat, 4s 6d; beans,/ss; crsuhed beans 5s 6d; -pollard, Cs per'loolb, lis 6d 200 lbs; bran, 5s per 1001b. Dairy Produce, etc.—Butter factory Is Id, dairy lOd, best separator Is per lb; cheese. 9d per lb; eggs, Is 9d per dozen; lard. 9d per lb; bacon, 10d per ib; hams, By«d per lb, rashers lOd; milk, 3d per quart.
