The delegates from the Sugar Cane Union, addressing a meeting of growers in the Richmond river district, stated that growers were not getting a fair deal from the manufacturers. The latter were getting too large a share of the profits. Out of £2l a ton realised for sugar on the market the growers onlv get £4 4s (id. The manufacturer of the raw sugar made a clear profit of £3 Is lOd, while the refiners cleared £7 a ton.
The Association intends to appeal to the Federal Parliament to appoint a Royal Commission to investigate the rcat.ter.
