Mr. Chauneey Depew says the railroads went about the matter in the wrong way. They ought to have sought the hearing of the Inter-State Commerce Commission. GO VER NNENT'S ATTITUDE, Received June 7, 11-10 p.m. New York, June 7. The Western, railroads agree to the withdrawal of all increases in rates, and promise to await the operation of the new railroad law. President Taft has announced that the Government's suit against the railways will be withdrawn when the new rate law operates.
