HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph —Press Association. ' Wellington, Yesterday. The following report has been received from the High Commissioner:— Mutton. —The market is firm, with an upward tendency, owing to high prices for beef. Pork is in better demand.

For mutton, Canterbury is quoted at 3'%d, North Island 3%d, River Plate 31/od. The lamb market is firm. There is a good demand for all qualities. Large stock is accumulating. Canterbury o'/od, other 5y 4 d, Australian 4%d.

The beef market is very linn and excited on account of the small supply on hand. The advance has checked business. The prospects arc that prices must be maintained for some time. New Zealand hinds .jy 4 d, fores 4%d; North American chilled beef, hinds, 7'/id, fores 5V4»1-

Butter. —The market is firmer. There is better demand. The stock of New Zealand butter on hand is small. Choicest New Zealand butter 108s, Australian 102s, Danish 115s, Siberian 102s.

The cheese market is firmer. There is more demand for white at 57s and colored at 555.

The hemp market is weak and inact-l ive. Prices have slightly declined h all grades. The output from Manila for the week was 44,000 bales. The wheat .market is dull and declining. New Zealand long-berried wheat, on spot, ex granary, per 5901b, 32s lid; New Zealand short-berried wheat, ex granary, per 491i1b, Sis Od. The oats market is dull, and very little business is doing. Xew Zealand peas, partridge, per 5041b, 525. Beans.—The market is quiet, and prices are slightly weaker. New Zealand beans, f.a.q. new crop, per 5041b, 395. The wool market remains tftm for] fine wools, and is a shade weaker for icoarse wools; 3G's low crossbreds, Is l%d; 40's do., Is 2%d; 44's medium crossbreds, Is 4%d; 50's halfbreds, Is 8y 2 d; 56's quarterbreds, Is ■flft'g merinos, 2s 4%d. .- ■— ""
