British residents in Nanking are taking refuge in the suburb of Haiakwan, between the city wall and the river. Foreign men-of-war are protecting them.

8000 TROOPS DISARMED. Received June 6, 10.45 p.m. Pekin, June 6. Seven thousand local troops at Nankin disarmed eight thousand. Other troops have been substituted and order maintained.
