A mysterous and terrible tragedy was reported from the village of .Niagara Falls a few weeks ago. Three days previously some workmen employed in the timber reservation near Port Day observed two men in a rowing boat a short distance above the Horseshoe Falls, one of whom, apparently, had attacked the other violently. Screams came from the boat, which, being for the moment out of control, began to drift rapidly to the brink of the cataract towards the floating blocks of ice. Only when it was too late did the men realise their danger, and then they began to strain every muscle at their oars. Their strength was speedily exhausted, and horrified watchers on the shore a few minutes later saw the boat capsize and plunge with the two men over the edge of the fall. The wreckage of the uoat and one body were seen an hour afterwards' in the stream below, but neither body has been recovered, and so far the identity of the victims remains a mystery.
