Harold, with a total of 170. The Medal Handicap in the morning wis won J)V A. Strang (Palmerston North). The fecial Handicap in the afternoon was won by H. M. Thompson wood). NGAMOTU CLUB. There was a good attendance at the Ngametu Golf Club's links yesterday. Twenty-three competitors took part in the eclectic match of 30 holes' (best 18 holes to count) medal handicap. CARRIXGTOX ROAD CLUB. The formal opening of the Carrington Road Club's new links' took place yesterday afternoon in the presence of about thirty members. Ui>m: lie president (Mr. Geo. Gray) devolve the duty of declaring the links open for play. la doing so, he said they -would find the links an improvement upon last year's. As a matter of fact, they were fortunate in obtaining them. They were also fortunate in possessing sftich a member as Jlr. Perham, who was practically responsible for the improvements that had already been effected to the grounds in • the way of making the putting greens and erecting the fences, as well as in clearing the ground of fern, furze, etc. lie took the opportunity, on behalf of I the Club, of thanking Mr. Perham for his unselfish and painstaking work. They had not a club house yet, but this very necessary convenience, he hoped, would soon be a feature of the links, mentioning that the committee had the matter 'in hand and were pushing on with it. He hoped those present would experience an enjoyable afternoon, and that they would appreciate the new 3ink«. Scratch games were then played, the best cards returned being those of Perham 110 for 18 holes, Sclmackenberg sft for 0 holes, and Tribe 57 for.O holes. . Miss A. Putt was the most successful , of the ladies, winning a trophy present- j, ed by Mra. R. Cock for the best lady ? « player of the afternoon. |
