V. Tate, E. Pearce, and Birdling. 'Sergeant Haddrell represented the .police. A. Kerr (Mr. Townsend) applied for the transfer of the Waitara Hotel license from W. Young to himself. Before dealing: with this transfer the committee stated they would like lights placed in the hack yard of each Waitara hotel. It would greatly assist the police in detecting undesirables if such should congregate there. The committee did not wish to infer that any such congregated at present. Sergeant Haddrell stated that there was the case of a man who was rohibed in the hack yard of an hotel, and a light might have prevented this. The application was granted, subject to a light .being placed to the satisfaction of the inspector. A new license was granted! subject to the same conditions. J. A.
